Oars Design Studio began as a quiet home venture — a small desk by the window, a sketchbook always open, and a heart anchored deeply in Assam. What started as a personal search for identity slowly grew into a purpose: bringing the colours, textures, stories and symbols of Assam and North-East India into everyday life.

The idea evolved naturally. Each time I looked around, I felt that today’s children and young adults were drifting further from their roots. Modern life moves fast, and the cultural threads that once held families close now feel stretched. I wanted to create something that would bridge that gap — small, beautiful objects that remind us of who we are and where we come from. Every design begins with research. I spend hours studying motifs, folklore, tribal aesthetics, traditional crafts and forgotten details from across the North-East. From there, concepts take shape in my sketchbook or on Procreate. The early drafts are raw and emotional; the final versions are refined for commercial use without losing their soul.Once a design is ready, I bring it to life myself. Printing, etching or engraving — every piece passes through my own hands. From fridge magnets and T-shirts to décor pieces and accessories, each item carries a story from Assam, captured in a form that fits the everyday lives of modern users.

Oars Design Studio is still a home business. That is our strength. It allows every piece to be intimate, carefully crafted and honest. Our mission is simple: keep the legacy of Assam alive, one thoughtfully designed product at a time, so the next generation grows up with pride in their roots — not as something distant, but as something they hold in their hands every single day.
